Editing Contact Field Values

Editing Default Fields

Default fields can be added and edited manually via the Update Contact dialogue located within each contact's profile page. Default fields include a contact's name, groups and addresses. To access the Update Contact dialogue, navigate to a contact's profile page and select the "Edit" option from the settings menu:

The Add Connection drop-down menu provides an input for you to add connections of all types. One connection can be added at a time; multiple connections will need to be added one at a time.

The upward-pointing arrows to the right of the address fields are what you'll use to prioritize your contact's addresses. TextIt recognizes the topmost address as the priority, which is an important indicator for outbound messages. Let's assume your account has Phone Number, Twitter and Telegram channels connected and you send a message to 3 contacts, each with a different address priority. The channel that corresponds with each contact's address priority will send them the message.

You can change the value of a contact field via the contacts tab, or by adding the Update the contact action to a workflow. When a new address sends a message to a channel connected to your account, a new contact will be created with an empty name value and empty values for each custom contact field you've added. The new contact will only be identifiable by their address until their other field values are updated.

Editing Custom Fields

Custom fields, while created via the "Manage Fields" button on the contacts tab, can be edited via the Custom Fields dialogue also located within each contact's profile page. To access the Custom  dialogue, navigate to a contact's profile page and select the "Edit" option from the settings menu:

The custom fields you've added to your account will be listed in the dialogue, where each contact's individual values will appear. To edit these values, simply replace them and click "Ok":

Editing Date Values

Note that hen manually adding a date value without a time specification to a contact field, TextIt will replace the corresponding time value with the time at which you updated the field.

Using a Flow

Contact fields can also be created and edited via a workflow containing an Update the Contact action.

Using a Contact Import

Contacts can be imported with multiple address types, but only one address for each type.

You can update a contact's field values by including the contact field and its value in your import. Contact addresses, a type of default field value, can be added but not replaced via an import, so long as the UUID column contains the UUID(s) of the contact(s). Contact UUIDs can be obtained by exporting your contacts or using the List Contacts query in the API Explorer. Simply log into your account, add the appropriate parameters to filter to your desired contacts (or leave the query blank to list all of your contacts), and click the "GET" button:

TextIt will return all of the information associated with your contact(s), including their UUID(s).

Replacing Addresses

At this time, contact addresses may only be replaced via the Contacts API Endpoint or a contact’s profile page as outlined above.
